By the time you reach out to a personal stylist, you’ve likely decided it’s impossible to revamp your wardrobe on your own. You may be unsure where to begin—what to keep, what to let go, what to buy, or how it should all fit together.

That’s where I come in. I’m Mags Van Eeden, ready to turn that familiar “nothing to wear” moment (while staring at a full closet) into that liberating feeling when you open your wardrobe and know exactly what to reach for – for any occasion – and loving every look.

I find that my strongest connections and insights emerge when curating individualised wardrobes for career women.

I have a good understanding of the psychology of clothing, which allows me to create tailored solutions – whether for those building their careers or for established C-suite executives.

Styling, the Intentional Wardrobe way

1

My approach

My approach elevates the core principles of a capsule wardrobe into a complete, carefully curated collection.

I design a wardrobe where every piece belongs to a unified whole, with room for a handful of seasonal or fashion-forward accents each year – while the foundation stays enduring and cohesive.

My inspiration was first sparked years ago by the women I watched in the streets of Venice – shopkeepers, café workers, jewellers, and mothers pushing prams. moving with a quiet confidence through narrow streets.

They were of every age and shape, yet all were bound by a thread of effortless elegance. Each appeared naturally, unmistakably “put together.”

Since then, I’ve encountered the same quiet sophistication in New York, Paris, and, more recently, in pockets of Melbourne. Across these cities, I have noticed the confidence radiating from well-dressed, fashionable women.

It is this seemingly effortless, yet deliberately composed, style that I aim to capture and share with my clients.

Style knows no size

It’s easy to believe that elegance is reserved for those who wear smaller sizes. Magazines and social media celebrate a narrow ideal, suggesting that chic dressing comes naturally only to the thin.

But true style isn’t defined by a number on a tag – it’s about understanding your proportions, expressing your personality, and choosing pieces that make you feel confident.

The principles of dressing well apply to everyone. A beautifully cut jacket, a pair of jeans that fits just right, or a pair of shoes that balance an outfit work their magic regardless of size.

When you focus on fit, fabric, and proportion – rather than a number on a label – you’ll find that elegance is entirely within reach.

Most importantly, style is about joy. When you dress for the body you have – not the one you’re told to have – you celebrate yourself.

Irrespective of your size, the secret to looking elegant is the same: choose pieces you love, wear them with confidence, and let your personal flair shine.

A lean wardrobe

An effective wardrobe works best with fewer clothes because it focuses on versatility and quality rather than sheer quantity.

When you own a smaller collection of well-chosen pieces that mix and match easily, getting dressed becomes simpler and faster – you spend less time deciding what to wear and avoid the clutter of rarely used items.

Fewer garments also mean you can invest in better-quality fabrics and timeless styles that last longer, saving money in the long run and reducing waste.

This approach encourages mindful shopping, helping you avoid impulse buys and ensuring every item truly suits your lifestyle and personal style.

In essence, a lean wardrobe delivers more outfit options with less effort, while being kinder to your budget, your space, and the environment.

Power dressing isn’t about severe tailoring, exaggerated shoulders, or flashy logos meant to intimidate. It’s about wearing clothing that shapes both how you feel and how others perceive you.

I help clients choose pieces that give them the quiet power to feel "in charge" of their lives – and to subtly influence the impressions they make on everyone around them.

First impressions are formed in seconds, and appearance speaks before we do.

People often respond more positively to someone who is dressed stylishly, because appearance plays a powerful role in shaping first impressions.

Well-chosen clothing can signal confidence, attention to detail, and respect for the situation or those present. These subtle cues often lead service staff, colleagues, and even strangers to perceive the wearer as competent and "powerful" – before a word is even spoken.

This way of dressing isn’t reserved for the “mature” woman – it’s for anyone who wants to feel confident and intentional.

You’re never too young or too old to rethink how you present yourself.

Dress with purpose, whether you’re heading to work, meeting friends for coffee, cheering at a game, or going out on a date.
